Hawaiian Village was a massive Polynesian themed complex located in Tampa, Florida. The Tiki Lounge was “a rendezvous for revelry,” and the “Hawaii in Tampa” theme continued throughout the complex with the Kona Coffee Shop, the Lanai Room, the Mai tai Club Room, and the Aloha Convention Hall. After a day of poolside lounging, dog races, fishing or golf, guests would retreat to the Tiki Lounge and order tropical drinks in custom tiki mugs for $2.50 like the Devil’s Mask, which would “bring out the devil in any angel”, or the Witches Brew which is ‘not recommended for a weak at heart.” One former barmaid commented that if you could walk after 2 drinks, you were doing good! The restaurant also featured tableside Hibachi dinners, a Hawaiian Luau, Polynesian Pu Pus, and nightly floor shows.
