Pago Pago was part of Chicago's tiki heyday. With three locations in the business district, Pago Pago touted their Polynesian atmosphere, Cantonese food and exotic drinks. At the time lucky Chicagoans could walk from Pago Pago to Kon Tiki Ports, Don the Beachcomber, Tommy Wongs, The Shangri-La and Trader Vics. By the late '50s there were over 20 tiki bars and restaurants in the windy city.
Up until 2010, Pago Pago's hand painted billboard remained on the side of a brick wall, and was a popular photo spot for tikiphiles, but the building was demolished for a high rise.
Luckily tiki bars live on in Chicago thanks to establishments like 3 Dots and A Dash, Lost Lake and Hala Kahiki.
