The Luau - Miami Beach, FL

$ 27.00

The Luau in Miami Beach opened in 1955 and was a tiki hot spot that served stars, socialites, businessmen and families. The menu featured “Polynesian potables”, a full cantonese menu, waitresses in bikini tops and sarongs, and nightly entertainment. Designed by Franklin Hughes (known for his work on the Copacabana in NYC), The Luau had thatched huts, palm trees, moia and flaming heads. Adding to the ambience was a dayglo shipwreck painting behind the bar from local artist Lewis Van Dercar. The signature drink was the Pina Paradise, served in a pineapple, for $1.60.  Other favorites included the Fallen Virgin for $1.00, and the Classic Daiquiri for only .90.

The Luau was later owned and run by "Trader Syd" Mass sometime in the 60’s and sadly closed in 1974.

This t-shirt is available for Pre-Order through October 31st and will be shipping mid November.
